This term is filled with many
exciting events, examinations for our Years 7 and 8 students and, of course,
orientation and transition programs as we look toward the 2016 academic year.
In Term 4, we move to our summer uniform,
although there is a two-week grace period to allow for inclement weather. Middle School students are reminded that they
will need their winter uniform later this term for Speech Night.
We look forward to seeing parents at
the upcoming Parent-Teacher Interviews. Bookings
for the Junior and Middle School interviews next week will open on Monday via go2.
EARLY LEARNING CENTRE
Fitness Frenzy Week
To coincide with Health and Fitness Week
across Victoria, Edrington's ELC is holding 'Fitness Frenzy Week'. A wide variety of physical activities such as yoga,
soccer and basketball will be on offer for children to experience, many maybe
for the first time. A highlight of the
week, however, is the opening session on Monday, 12 October. Mrs Robertson has invited each child to bring
along a special guest, dressed in 'fluoro' sports clothes, for an
aerobics/dance session and has even convinced me to lead this aerobics
class. Parents & Friends have kindly
volunteered to provide smoothies to help quench our thirst at the conclusion of
the aerobics session. We certainly hope
many of you can join us in the John Twist Hall for this fun and interactive
Please see Mrs Sally Robertson
should you have any skills or sporting interests that you wish to share to
further enrich this element of the curriculum.
ELC educators at Haileybury believe
that the learning environment plays a vital role in young children's
learning. Considerable time and thought
has been allocated to create inspiring and stimulating learning environments to
which the children can return. Staff
look forward to hearing about children's holiday adventures on Monday, as we
commence what will no doubt be a busy but fun term.
We trust that our Junior School families are enjoying the
holidays and a break from normal routines.
We look forward to seeing everyone back at School on Monday, 5
October. Please remember that summer
uniform is worn in Term 4 and, as part of this uniform, it is compulsory that
all students have their sun hats for outdoor play.
Junior School Health and Fitness Week
In Week 2 of the term, we will
celebrate Health and Fitness Week in the Junior School. There have been a range of activities planned
for the students to educate them on the importance of leading a healthy
lifestyle. More details regarding the
week will be sent home via the diaries by our Physical Education staff, Jodie
Sherritt and Samantha Johnson.
From Tuesday, 13
October, we will recommence our Junior School Fitness Club. We were thrilled with the attendance at these
sessions earlier in the year and encourage all students to attend when
possible. The aim of Fitness Club is to
promote a fun and active lifestyle among our younger students while attempting
to improve their overall fitness and skills.
Sessions will resume on the front oval each Tuesday and Thursday morning
from 7.45 am. Please note that if the
oval is too wet in the mornings, we will move the circuit into the Sports
