EARLY LEARNING CENTRE
The Early Learning Centre staff have enjoyed welcoming new and returning families to our centre. The children have enthusiastically settled into their classes and have been learning new routines associated with their class level. Classes have commenced with a focus on the interests of the children. Information provided by parents though personal profile forms and during confirmation interviews has been used as a reference when establishing initial learning experiences. Activities arising from the children's interest areas have provided some exciting opportunities for the children to engage in their new learning environment and socialise with their friends.

NEWLANDS PARENTS & FRIENDS
Welcome to 2015! February at Newlands is always filled with wonderful festive events.
The Newlands Picnic is a wonderful way to commence the year. Incorporating a sausage sizzle, lucky dips, jumping castles and lots more, the picnic is a great way to catch up with families and staff in a relaxed, informal manner. Held on Tuesday, 17 February, the picnic will commence at 3.45 pm, so bring a picnic blanket and settle in for a fun, relaxed afternoon.
Students in ELC and Junior School will also celebrate Pancake Day on Tuesday, 17 February, in exchange for a gold coin donation. Once again, HPFN is pleased to donate the proceeds from the day to Newland's Social Justice Project in Tigray.
HPFN is excited to be involved with the Lunar Festival on Friday, 27 February. As part of the Twilight Market, HPFN will operate a food and beverage stall. As always, the success of these events would not be possible without the generous volunteers from our parents and friends community. HPFN is seeking parents and friends who can donate an hour of their time to assist at our stall between 5.00 and 9.00 pm. Please email HPFN Secretary Beth Grech with your availability.
Following on from last year's Relay for Life event, HPFN is extremely proud to announce that due to the fundraising efforts from our wonderful Newlands community, the Cancer Council has established the 'In Memory of Graeme Casey (HPFN) Research Award'. This award will help fund research into the prevention and treatment of melanoma and breast cancer. Thank you to everyone who participated in this event. We look forward to supporting the Cancer Council's Relay for Life again in 2015.
HPFN are again running the Haileybury School Journal Drive. The journals are on display in the Newlands Administration Office and may be ordered through Trybooking or at the office. Orders close on 28 February, with delivery by 27 March 2015.
Finally, the first HPFN meeting for 2015 will be held on Thursday, 19 February, at 7.00 pm in the Newlands Resource Centre. Our guest speaker is Mr Sean Allcock, Director of Sport. As always, everyone is invited to attend these informative meetings. We hope to see you there and we wish all families a wonderful year at Newlands.
