Term 1A

I would like to thank all Haileybury staff and students for the way in which they have begun the 2023 academic year. Term 1A is a chance for students to begin their 2023 studies early and to become comfortable in their new classes, before heading off on an extended summer break.

It takes an enormous amount of organisation and effort to ensure that a new school year is ready to go in November of the previous year. However, Haileybury believes that getting a head start on the new year is of great benefit to our students, particularly those undertaking VCE Units 3 and 4 studies.

As the academic year concludes, I would like to sincerely thank you all for your ongoing support of Haileybury.

My best wishes to you all for a safe and happy time away from the usual school routine.

Speech Night Celebrations

A large number of Haileybury students and families gathered on the evening of Friday, 2 December to celebrate another successful year at Haileybury. The night also featured prize giving for our very best sportspeople, performers and academics.

The quality of the musical performances on the night were outstanding, bearing testament to the strength of Haileybury’s Performing Arts program.

Haileybury UK

Charlotte Hendrie (Year 12), who was recently selected to attend Haileybury UK as part of the scholarship program, arrived safe and sound in London. Charlotte has spent time with Stephan Muller and his family doing some ‘must-see’ bits of London. This is her first time in Europe and she was pretty awestruck — London is looking resplendent in the Christmas lights.

Charlotte arrived at Haileybury UK to the warmest of welcomes and settling into her single room in a Year 11/12 corridor, which was decked out with fairy lights for her.

We wish Charlotte all the best on this adventure and look forward to her sharing her experiences on her return.

Haileybury Art Competition

It was great to see so many Haileybury students participate in our Art Competition. Congratulations to Kendrick Goy (Year 12) for winning the Senior School entry.

Top Designs 2023

Congratulations to Edward Johnstone (Year 12) whose vector thrust control has been shortlisted for entry into the Top Designs 2023 exhibit at Melbourne Museum.

Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program — Melbourne University

We would like to congratulate Locklyn Luu (Year 10) on being accepted into the Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program for 2023.

The Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program is an academic enrichment program that supports high achieving Victorian Year 11, Year 12 and select secondary students living close to the New South Wales and South Australian borders.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Congratulations to Divyan Bhasin (Year 10) on completing their Bronze Level and Ishi Jajpura (Year 12) on completing their Silver Level Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Our Coordinator of Duke of Edinburgh Program, Tamsin Visick, attended Melbourne Town Hall for the presentation of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards to seven Haileybury students who have achieved this outstanding level in this prestigious award.
