The Edrington Art Expo was a great
success last year. It is back this year
and it is bigger than ever! The Expo
will take place on Thursday, 5 November, from 3.30 to 5.30 pm. Every student at Edrington, from ELC to Year
8, will have a piece of work on display. It will also feature works from some of the
VCE students based at Berwick. There
will be a sausage sizzle available on the evening and wine and canapés for the
adults. Craft activities, a raffle and
lots of photo opportunities will be there for the whole family. Come and enjoy this special event on our
community calendar. To view the poster, please click here.
The Years 7 and 8 students preparing
for examinations have been given much advice over the past weeks regarding tips
for preparation, studying and memorising. We look forward to supporting our students as
they put these many techniques into practice and encourage them to attend help
desk sessions in the lead-up to examinations when required.
Please remember that there will be
no School on Monday, 2, and Tuesday 3, November, for the Melbourne Cup long
The end of the year then draws to a
close for our Years 7 and 8 students on Friday, 13 November. These students then commence their Years 8 and
9 2016 studies.

second section will be completed by the Pre-Prep teachers and Pre-Prep families

Junior School Summer Spectacular
This year we are inviting our
families to join us for the Junior School Summer Spectacular. From 3.45 pm on Thursday, 26 November, we
will be holding a twilight picnic and concert to showcase some of our favourite
summer songs. Families are invited to
pack a picnic rug, bring some food to share and to sit out on the front oval to
celebrate a successful 2015. There will
also be food vans, a Christmas market and entertainment from our students. The evening is set to be a highlight of our
Junior School calendar, so please save the date. A flyer with more information will be sent
home in the coming weeks.
Oaks Day Picnic for the Children's Cancer Centre Foundation
To commemorate the Spring Racing
Carnival, students are invited to wear a hat or have crazy hair for Oaks Day on
Thursday, 5 November. This has been an
initiative organised by our Social Justice Captains, Chloe Rouse and Abhinav
Chimalkar. We will also be
organising the students' lunch for $5, which includes a sausage, drink and an
icy pole. All money collected will be
donated to the Children's Cancer Centre Foundation.
Junior School Athletics Day
On Friday, 13
November, the Junior School will hold its annual Athletics Day. The students can wear their sports uniform to
and from School on this day. We invite
families to join us for this event on the front oval. Races will begin at 2.00 pm.
Junior School Playground and Quadrangle
A reminder to students and parents
that the Junior School playground and quadrangle should only be used before and
after School while a staff member is on duty.
Once homeroom has commenced at 8.30 am, we ask that all families move on
from the quadrangle so that students can begin their School day. Younger siblings and parents chatting in the
quadrangle can be a distraction to classes and students, so please assist
teachers by utilising other areas away from the classrooms. Your cooperation is appreciated.
The Middle School is very busy and
focused at this time of year. All
students in Years 7 and 8 have now received their revision booklets for all
examinable subjects and should be allocating time each day for quiet study and
revision. Please see the Middle School
Examination timetable below.
To finish the week, the Year 8 Boys
Drama classes performed their final assessment items to the Middle School
during this morning's assembly. These
performances were a culmination of a semester of hard work in the Drama
elective. Well done to all the boys and
their Drama teachers, Ms Kerekes and Miss Tischler.
On Friday, 6 November, we will be
holding our annual House, Music, Art and Drama Colours Assembly to recognise
the achievements of many students in these areas of the Middle School. Please note that this assembly will be held at
a different time, 12.30 – 1.15 pm, in John Twist Hall. Award Winners will be on display on Middle
School notice boards. Parents are
welcome to attend.
Our Year 8 students will be
farewelled from Middle School at their Graduation Assembly on Friday, 13November.
This assembly will begin at 8.45 am and
be followed by morning tea with parents and teachers in the Sports Hall. Further information about the day has been
sent home to families today.
