From Melbourne to Darwin

Last week four Haileybury Senior School students, accompanied by Mrs Fiona Gontier and Mr Theo Goergakopoulos, travelled to Darwin to visit Kormilda College.

Kormilda College will become the Haileybury Rendall School in 2018 and as part of the transition process, a number of Parent Information Evenings have been held to introduce the Darwin community to the Haileybury philosophy, academic programs and offerings for 2018.

Year 12 students Michelle Doan (Year 10), Hamish Wallace (Year 10), Lachlan Iape (Year 12) and Sarah McIntosh (Year 12) met with current Year 9 students in their classroom during the afternoon and then presented at the Information Evening during the evening.

The students spoke about their experiences at Haileybury, particularly in the Senior School and their academic experiences doing the VCE.

The VCE will be introduced to the Haileybury Rendall School in 2018 and the families who attended the evening were very interested to hear what the Haileybury students had to say.

Following the evening, the students and Haileybury staff were swamped with families asking them questions, keen to know more about the programs.

Mr Craig Glass, Principal Designate of the Haileybury Rendall School, appreciated the efforts of these students and staff in taking time out of their busy schedules to come to Darwin to present to families.

We look forward to the new school year and the opening of the Haileybury Rendall School.
