During the term break, 11 Haileybury Senior Cricketers accompanied by Mr. Taberner and Mr. Borley, visited Sri Lanka in an exchange with Trinity College in Kandy.
Students were billeted with families from Trinity, whilst undertaking 5 days of sightseeing and 5 days of cricket. The sightseeing and cultural experience included visiting the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, the Temple of Tooth and a full day of Test Cricket in Colombo.
The boys loved the experience of playing cricket on the ex-Test ground in Kandy, which is Trinity College's school ground, Asgiriya Stadium. The team participated in a two-day game, two one-day games and two 20/20's, claiming victory in two of the six matches played.
The team were also able to have a 3-hour training session with the Trinity College full time cricket coach, Sampath Perera that was invaluable.
Trinity College and their families were very generous hosts and our boys were able to gain a strong sense of culture and lifestyle in Kandy.
