Haileybury Academic Scholarships are awarded to students who exhibit outstanding academic performance and commitment to their studies. Students are required to complete academic testing, and a small number of students will be invited to attend an interview with the Head of Campus or Head of Senior School.

Test location
- Year 5 (current Year 3 students): Saturday, 20 June 2026 at the campus that the student is applying for (Please note that capacity restrictions apply and registrations will close when registrations reach the maximum capacity of our venue).
- Year 7 (current Year 5 students): Saturday, 20 June 2026 online.
- Year 10 (current Year 8 students): Sunday, 21 June 2026 online.
Eligibility
- Students must be an Australian citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia within the meaning of the Australian Citizenship Act 1948.
- Year 3 students currently attending Haileybury are ineligible to apply.
- Scholarships are offered for entry into Year 5, 7 and 10 in 2028 and students must currently be enrolled in Year 3, 5 or 8.
Application process
- Students can register to sit their test via the Edutest website.
- Applications will only be accepted in the period that registrations are open.
- Testing areas includes Literacy, Numeracy and Comprehension. Academic Scholarship testing is administered by Edutest.
Selection criteria
- Academic scholarships are awarded to students who exhibit strong academic performance from this formal Edutest testing. Students invited to progress to the next stage will be required to provide recent school reports and NAPLAN results.
- Shortlisted students may be required to complete second-round testing.
- Shortlisted students may be required to complete a scholarship interview with a Head of Campus (or delegate).
- Applicants should demonstrate a positive attitude toward school and a willingness to contribute to the Haileybury community.
Expectations of scholarship recipients
Scholarship recipients are expected to remain a student at Haileybury until their completion of the scholarship and are expected to participate fully in all school activities including those that relate to the recipients field(s) of excellence.
Important information
- Haileybury will not offer any changes to the test date, time or location. Only current Year 3 students will sit their testing on campus.
- Test time for each year level will be advised closer to the test date by Edutest – please ensure availability for the entire day. No alternate test dates or times will be offered if you are unable to test at the time allocated.
- Students can apply for entry into one campus only.
- Haileybury offers partial Academic scholarships only.
- Scholarships are awarded from the year of entry through until Year 12. Scholarship continuation is assessed on an annual basis against the scholarship acceptance terms and conditions.
- Haileybury does not disclose test results to families. Test results remain the property of Haileybury.
- There is no sharing or transferring of results to or from other schools.
- Alternate testing dates and/or locations are not available if you are unable to attend testing on the planned date.
- Participating families must act in accordance with Haileybury’s Code of Conduct. Instances where behaviour is below that of the expected level will result in immediate cancellation of test registrations and exclusion from Haileybury’s scholarship process in future years.
- Practice tests can be purchased from Edutest when registering online.
Year 5 (current Year 3 students)
- Capacity restrictions apply: If the number of applications exceeds the School's requirements, registrations will close prior to the 11th of July and no further registrations will be accepted. Early registration is highly recommended.
- Testing for entry into Year 5 (current Year 3 students) at Berwick, Brighton, City and Keysborough will be conducted at the campus the student is applying for and will be supervised by experienced Edutest supervisors. Students will complete four multiple-choice tests and a Written Expression test.
- Testing for entry into Year 5 (current Year 3) is open to external students only. Testing for Year 7 and Year 10 (current Year 5 and Year 8 respectively) is open to external and current Haileybury students.
- Students who are shortlisted to progress to the next stage of the Scholarship program will be invited to attend an interview with the Head of Campus at the campus the student is applying to.
- Students who are not shortlisted to progress to the next stage of the Scholarship program will be advised via email.
Year 7 and Year 10 entry (current Year 5 and Year 8 students)
- Testing for entry into Year 7 and 10 (current Year 5 and Year 8 students) at Berwick, Brighton, City and Keysborough will be conducted online in student’s homes, supervised virtually by experienced Edutest supervisors. Students will complete four online multiple-choice tests and a Written Expression test.
- Shortlisted students progressing to the second stage of the Scholarship Program will be required to attend mandatory second-round testing at their nominated campus. Details will be provided upon confirmation of progression.
- Students who are not shortlisted to progress to the next stage of the Scholarship program will be advised via email.
- For students applying for entry into Year 7 and Year 10 (current Year 5 and Year 8 students), final test details including logins, test session time and detailed user guides will be emailed to families by Edutest in the week prior to testing.
- A copy of Edutest’s Online Testing Guide can also be accessed via the link in the registration confirmation email. Families are advised to familiarise themselves with this guide well in advance of the testing day.
