Hugo Engele

Hugo Engele joins Haileybury from St Aloysius’ College in NSW — a large, independent Catholic boys’ school where he was a member of the Executive team and Director of Co-Curricula.

He was part of the development, communication and implementation of the College’s Teaching and Learning framework, Pastoral Care framework, College Strategic Plan and Child Safeguarding framework.

During his six years at St Aloysius’ College, Hugo also developed an initiative with a leading independent girls’ school that immersed Junior and Senior School students in a co-educational pastoral, academic, social justice and leadership program to foster respectful relationships.

A passionate and energetic leader, Hugo has also held positions as Sportsmaster, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education and Religious Education teacher, a Ist XV Rugby Coach and Resident Assistant Boarding Housemaster.

Hugo supports academic rigour and pushing educational boundaries to develop resilient, critical and independent thinkers who are well-prepared for life beyond the classroom. He comes to Haileybury with a firm belief in building strong teams with shared goals, empowering others and collaboration.

Hugo has completed the Senior Executive Program at the Association of Independent Schools and the National Flagship Program from the Association of Independent School’s Leadership Centre.

He is also a Level 3 Rugby Coach and a Surf Life Saver and has two children at Haileybury.
