It’s show time!
Excitement is building for our production of Madagascar Jr., which will be held this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings. Whether in the spotlight on stage or working behind the scenes, our students have shown outstanding commitment and enthusiasm throughout rehearsals. They are eagerly looking forward to sharing the show with you.
It has been wonderful to see students working together, supporting one another, and growing in confidence as they prepare to bring this much-loved story to life. We encourage all Edrington families to come along to a performance and support our students in what promises to be a memorable and entertaining evening.

Outstanding NAPLAN results
Once again, this year our students have achieved outstanding results in NAPLAN. These results reflect the hard work, perseverance, and commitment our students demonstrate every day in the classroom. They also recognise the dedication of our teachers, who work incredibly hard to deliver high-quality learning experiences and encourage every student to achieve their best. We are also grateful to our families for the encouragement and support they provide at home. Together, these results are something our entire campus can be proud of.
Early Learning Centre
Blast Off! Pre-Prep children explore science with Senior School STEM Leaders
Collaboration between Early Learning Centre (ELC) children and Senior School students provides meaningful opportunities for learning, connection and community engagement. During a recent visit to the Senior School science laboratories, our Pre-Prep children experienced the benefits of this partnership through hands-on exploration and positive interactions with older peers.
The highlight of the visit was an exciting science showcase, Blast Off! led by our Senior School STEM Leaders. Through a range of engaging experiments, the children observed scientific concepts in action, sparking curiosity, encouraging questions and inspiring a sense of wonder about the world around them.
These interactions with Senior School students help children build relationships beyond their immediate learning environment and foster a strong sense of belonging within the wider school community. The STEM Leaders were excellent role models, demonstrating enthusiasm, patience and a passion for learning.
The session concluded with a paper aeroplane-making challenge, where Senior School students supported the ELC children to design, create and test their aircraft. This collaborative experience encouraged communication, problem-solving, creativity and teamwork, while also building confidence and social skills.
Experiences such as these highlight the value of cross-age learning opportunities, enriching children’s educational experiences and strengthening connections across our school community. The visit also provided an exciting introduction to Term 3, when Science will become a major focus of the Pre-Prep curriculum. We look forward to building on the children’s enthusiasm and continuing their journey of discovery and inquiry.
Junior School
Friendship is our superpower
At the beginning of the year our students created a beautiful wall of flowers highlighting the ways in which we can be good friends. Our theme this year is Friendship is our Superpower. Like our academic subjects, social skills must be explicitly taught to assist children in developing their ability to make and keep friends.
This term we will start looking at ‘friendology’ to empower students to develop a strong sense of self and love themselves while learning to manage what is most important to them: their friendships. Our students will become Friendship Ninjas, someone who surrounds themselves with friends in the healthy zone of the Friend-o-Meter, while navigating the Friend-o-Cycle, Friendship Fires and Mean-on-Purpose. A Friendship Ninja is kind and friendly to everyone.
Middle School
The Edrington Concert, held at the end of Term 2, was a wonderful celebration of talent and dedication. Students took to the stage with confidence and enthusiasm, showcasing the results of countless hours of practice and preparation. We congratulate all performers and thank Mr Campbell Reither and our incredible music staff for their commitment to supporting and inspiring our students.
Last week our Year 5 students participated in a Thrive incursion, which provided an engaging and practical introduction to the world of product design and advertising. Through a range of interactive activities, students developed their understanding of how products are created, marketed and brought to life. They explored the importance of innovation, problem solving and effective communication, while gaining valuable insights into the entrepreneurial process.
We have had a fantastic start to the term, and we look forward to seeing students continue to learn, grow and embrace the many opportunities ahead.

The HPFE have been very busy getting ready for the Father’s Day stall. The stall will be held in the John Twist Hall on Monday, 31 August. If you are available to help us sell gifts to the students at the Father’s Day stall, please register here.
Every Wednesday you will find Jenelle and Amphil at the SHUS from 8.30 am to 10.45 am. The SHUS is always looking for an extra hand, so if you have an hour to spare on a Wednesday to give Amphil and Jenelle a hand in the shop please contact them shus-berwick@haileybury.vic.edu.au.
