Dare to Dream JR
Come along to see our Middle School students take the stage in Disney’s Dare to Dream JR, a musical revue that follows an eager group of trainees on their first day at a fictional Walt Disney Imagineering Studio. As the group sets out to help each other discover their dreams, they work together to explore the power of dreams to unite, inspire and make anything possible. This musical revue is a thrilling mix of contemporary songs, timeless classics and brand-new medleys that are sure to surprise and delight Disney lovers of all ages.

Symphony of Stories – Book Week 2026
Book Week is a highlight of the school year, with a flurry of activity led by the Newlands library staff. This year’s theme is Symphony of Stories, illustrated by award-winning author and illustrator Briony Stewart. It celebrates how books and their characters come together to create a chorus of diverse, inspiring tales.
Students will be treated to presentations by some inspiring authors: Patrick Guest, Nova Weetman, Steve Mushin and Mark Smith.
In addition to our author visits, there will be an array of fun Book Week craft activities, contests and games. Recess readers, led by our staff, will share music-themed picture books in the library, while students can also test their knowledge in a Middle School Music Trivia Quiz.

Language Week celebrations
As part of our Language Week celebrations, our ELC children enjoyed a wonderful week of cultural learning and connection. A highlight was a special Chinese cultural performance, where a group of 35 performers showcased traditional music, dance and singing. The children were captivated by the vibrant costumes, beautiful melodies played on traditional Chinese instruments, and energetic dance performances that brought Chinese culture to life. Several children also had the opportunity to present flowers and certificates to the performers, helping them feel involved in this memorable event.
Celebrating the T with literacy
An integral part of our literacy program is our much-loved cooking experiences, when the children make and eat a particular dish linked to the focus letter of the week. Celebrating the letter T, the children explored the classic story The Tiger Who Came to Tea before gathering for their very own tea party. Reception classes came together in the larger outdoor learning space to enjoy butter, jam and Vegemite toast while sharing conversations, practicing social skills and strengthening connections with peers from the other classrooms. It was a wonderful example of how literacy can be brought to life through meaningful, hands-on experiences. A heartfelt thank you to the entire Reception team for creating such a memorable learning opportunity, and a special thank you to Dr Stephan Muller for joining us as our honoured guest and helping make the occasion even more special.
Junior School
Father’s Day and Special Friends
Fathers and Special Friends of our Newlands Junior School students are invited to join us for afternoon tea and refreshments in Berthon Hall, before moving to the afternoon activities.
- 2.05 pm Afternoon tea
- 2.35 pm Classroom activities
- 3.30 pm Conclusion and home time
- Resource Centre Quad then to Junior School Classrooms.
100 Days of Prep
Our amazing Preps reached a huge milestone — 100 Days of School.
We celebrated this special occasion on Friday, 24 July with the theme: 100 Days Brighter.
Preps dressed in their most colourful, sparkly, neon or sunshine-inspired outfits to show just how much brighter they have become over 100 days of learning, laughing and growing.
Middle School
Welcome back to a new term
The beginning of a new term is always a wonderful opportunity to reconnect as a community, reflect on the experiences that have shaped us, and look ahead with optimism to the opportunities and challenges that await.
Over the course of the past term, we have continued to see our Magenta principles reflected through the generosity, enthusiasm and commitment of our students and staff. From community events and fundraising initiatives to opportunities for students to showcase their talents and achievements, these moments highlight the strong sense of connection, care and belonging that makes our school community such a special place.
Student and staff connections
The end of term Staff vs Students soccer match was another wonderful example of the spirit and connection within our Middle School community. With the excitement of the World Cup capturing the attention of students and staff alike, our own match brought a similar sense of enthusiasm, teamwork and friendly competition to the field. Students and staff came together to enjoy the game, celebrate participation and showcase their skills, creating a memorable afternoon for everyone involved. After an exciting contest that went all the way to a penalty shootout, the staff team managed to secure the win in a closely fought and entertaining match.

Term 2
This term has been another great opportunity to strengthen connections across our school community through volunteering, supporting school initiatives and participating in HPFK activities. We are continually encouraged by the enthusiasm and generosity shown by our families, and we thank everyone who has contributed throughout the term.
HPFK Second-Hand Uniform Shop – Return Policy Reminder
To assist families and ensure the smooth operation of the HPFK Second-hand Uniform Shop, we would like to remind our community of the shop’s return policy.
Return Policy:
Items must be returned within one month of purchase. Returns requested after this period will only be considered if alternative arrangements have been made within the one month of purchase and approved by the HPFK Committee.
We are always looking for additional volunteers to assist with HPFK events and the Uniform Shop. Whether you can help regularly or on an occasional basis, your support makes a significant difference and helps us continue providing valuable services and activities for our families.
