Dance Star Regional Finals

On Sunday 28 April, more than 120 Dance students from Year 7 through to Year 12 travelled to Rowville Secondary College to compete in the 2024 Dance Star Regional Finals.

Haileybury enjoyed a wonderful day competing against many schools, dance schools and clubs in large and competitive sections. The students deserve much praise for training hard in the lead-up to the competition and for giving their all on stage with outstanding performances. The results that the students achieved speak for themselves and are a testament to the hard work, time, effort, passion and dedication of our amazing students and coaching staff.

Of the 26 Haileybury dance teams and soloists that competed at Regionals, all qualified for the State Championships to be held at the start of June. Special mentions must go to:

  • The inaugural Senior Large Contemporary Team achieving 3rd place in a competitive section.
  • The Senior Large Hip Hop Team, Senior Small Jazz, Senior Small Hip Hop and Senior Small Contemporary achieving 1st place with healthy scores in their respective sections.
  • Soloists (Year 9), Chelsea (Year 10), Manling (Year 12), Lexi (Year 10), Susannah (Year 12), Emma (Year 12), Teleetha (Year 12), Candela (Year 7), Amy (Year 8) and Olivia (Year 8) winning their soloist sections.

We would like to thank all our students, coaches and coordinators for a wonderful weekend at Regionals and we wish them the very best as they now commence their preparations for State Finals.

  • Matty (Year 9) – U16 200m Hurdles 1st, 4x 100m and 4x200m relay 1st, 400m 2nd, Long Jump 3rd, 100m Hurdles 3rd, 200m 7th

Julia secured a top-10 finish in the 200m and narrowly missed the final by just 0.03 seconds.
