Water Well Workshops
Junior School students from Newlands are working towards purchasing a water well to support a fellow student’s home community in Tigray, Ethiopia.
Students will raise money through social justice initiatives and participate in interactive workshops to help understand the cause with parent Maria Strintzos.
Year 8 student Haftu Strintzos was adopted from Tigray in 2011, by Maria who has worked alongside a number of charitable organisations (including OXFAM and REST) for over 20 years. Maria lived in Ethiopia for approximately 15 years and has supported the people in Tigray during this time.
Haftu is a living embodiment of social justice in practice and a powerful example of how compassion and a few resources can change lives.
