Leadership Opportunities

Developing responsibility through leadership

Haileybury offers leadership opportunities at each educational stage and builds resilient and independent learners with a strong work ethic and critical skills in decision-making, leadership and enterprise.

Students leave as well-rounded young citizens with a love for learning, prepared for life on the global stage and with the drive to be active members of society.


Student leadership opportunities

Students in Junior School, Middle School and Senior School have a number of leadership opportunities for which they are encouraged to apply. Each carries the responsibilities of a leading role in the School and the expectations of peers, teachers and staff.


Junior School

Students can strive to become Captains of the Junior School or of their House. The role of Flag Bearer is also available.


Middle School

Middle School provides a wide range of opportunities for leadership. Girls and Boys can become Captains of their respective Girls and Boys Middle Schools, or take up Captain positions for the STEM and LEAP programs, Sports, Music, Art, Drama, Publications and Social Justice. The role of Flag Bearer is also available.


Senior School

Students can aim to become Captains or Vice Captains of their respective College, Captains of Sport, Members of the Student Representative Council, leaders of Social Justice or Captains of their House or Club. A number of Prefect positions are also offered that support the Captain roles.
