Learning Journals – Making Learning Visible
At Haileybury, our Learning Journals have been progressive documents, to
which educators, children and parents all have the opportunity to
contribute. This collaborative approach
ensures children's learning is captured on all domains and includes areas that
are of interest and importance to children and families.
Through the ELC journals, learning is highly
visible and a shared experience, both from a school and a home
perspective. Children being able to
'read' and share their journals allows them to revisit learning experiences
time and time again, which helps deepen their understanding and allows them to
build on previous work and ideas.
Children's journals are displayed in each classroom and they are used as
a basis for discussion at Parent-Teacher Interviews.

Junior School Presentation Assembly
Congratulations to all of the students who received a Term 1
Accomplishment Award at this afternoon's Junior School Presentation
Assembly. This was an opportunity for
the community to reflect and celebrate the term's achievements and highlights.
During Term 2, students will be required to wear winter uniform.
This requires all Junior School students
to wear their blazer to and from School each day. Blazers are not worn outside during playtime
and are kept safe and clean in classrooms during the day. Junior School girls also change from wearing
their white straw hat to wearing their magenta beret.
Junior School Intensive
The Prep, Years 1, 2 and 4 students will commence their
Intensive Swimming Program on Tuesday, 14 April. This program includes eight lessons, which
have been scheduled over the fortnight.
Session times will run throughout the day, with students having a 45-minute
lesson. We remind families to ensure
that all clothing items are clearly labelled.
Schedules will be available on your child's classroom door on the first
day of Term 2. Should you wish to
observe a session, please ensure you have signed into the Main Administration
Office, prior to heading up to the pool.
Year 5 Girls return from an action-packed week at camp. This wraps up a busy term for camps with every
year level having been out on camp.
the past two weeks our students have competed in House Athletics, Music, Art, Drama
and Dance. The sportsmanship, teamwork
and House spirit was wonderful to witness. A big thank you must go to House Convenor,
Adam Little, and all House staff for their tireless efforts.
second Interim Reports went live to parents this week. We have been pleased with the detail they
have provided us about our students' academic progress and effort, and trust
that parents have enjoyed greater insight into their child's learning. An opportunity to discuss these will be
available early next term at Parent-Teacher Interviews in Week 2.
As Term 2 commences, students are expected to wear
the full School winter uniform. For
boys, this requires wearing the long-sleeve shirt with tie. For girls, this requires the winter skirt at
or below knee length, long black socks or preferably black tights, long sleeve
shirt and tie. There is a two-week
transition period from summer to winter uniform at the beginning of Term 2.
