Haileybury’s Year 12 students graduated in style, celebrating appropriately and showing great respect for their peers, the teachers and staff of Haileybury, and their families. Now, along with all students doing VCE Units 3 and 4 subjects, they are well into their final exams.
Haileybury is a VCE specialist school delivering the certificate in Melbourne, online through Pangea, in Darwin at Haileybury Rendall School, in China at Haileybury Senior School Tianjin, and in six other Chinese cities with partner schools. We also deliver the VCE in the Philippines, Timor-Leste and Vietnam.
The VCE is a very well-structured certificate and Haileybury students take full advantage of being able to take subjects across a three-year period (in Years 10–12) and the range of subjects available. Importantly, the VCE clearly rewards effort — the balance of school-based assessments moderated by the examination process works well for students and ensures the integrity of the VCE assessment process.
The VCE is also recognised by universities around the world. While the majority of Haileybury graduates continue to head to The Group of Eight universities in Australia, a significant number head to top universities in the United Kingdom and the United States.
While the Years 11 and 12 students are currently focused on the VCE exams, the Year 10s are completing work experience and the Year 9s are on the City Chase option.
The Haileybury program, including the Middle School assessment program, is structured so that on Monday, 13 November, Term 1A of the 2024 academic year can start. This gives all students from Years 8 to 12 (in 2024) a four-week study block on the new academic year before the summer break.
This is an important part of Haileybury’s commitment to ensuring that we maximise available teaching and learning time and it is a contributing factor to Haileybury students’ brilliant academic results.
