Summer holidays

While the summer break continues and students and teachers are travelling, Haileybury Tianjin is still a busy place. Over recent weeks, the School has hosted several summer schools including a Spelling Bee Summer School and a Robotics Camp.

Student summer tours

The holidays are an opportunity for our students to participate in several interesting study tours. The Australian Tour has students visiting Sydney and Melbourne with the chance to visit Sydney University and the University of New South Wales and take part in some specially organised lectures. In Melbourne, the students will visit The University of Melbourne and spend some time at Haileybury Melbourne.

Haileybury International School works with Haileybury Melbourne

Each year, staff from Haileybury Tianjin visit Haileybury in Melbourne to continue their professional development and learning. Over the past month Barbara Zhu (Primary School English), Claire Zhang (Middle School Mathematics), Chao Zhao (VCE EAL), Sylvia Gao and Iris Zhao (VCE Mathematics), Alex Zhang (Head of Year 12), and Cathy Qi (Head of Senior School) attended Haileybury Melbourne.

Tianjin staff gained valuable knowledge within their own focus areas and were allocated a mentor, observed different teachers’ classes and discussed teaching and how to manage different working conditions. All our staff commented that the collaboration between Haileybury Tianjin and Haileybury Melbourne helps us maintain the strong feeling that we are one School.

World Scholars' Cup in Beijing

Recently, two teams of Year 11 students participated in the World Scholars’ Cup Beijing Regional Round. They performed very well and won six gold medals and two silver medals. Both teams qualified for the Global Final Round to be held in Xiamen. Successful teams will be invited to the annual World Scholars’ Tournament of Champions at Yale University.
