Language Week Online!

The Middle School Languages Department is excited to be launching our first-ever Languages Week Online this week!

Languages Week was scheduled to take place across all campuses (Keysborough Campus, Brighton Campus, Berwick Campus, City Campus) in Week 8 and the Languages Departments have risen to the challenge posed by social distancing and moved all activities online!

Of course, it will look quite different from what we’re used to but this will be a unique opportunity to bring students together to celebrate the amazing languages in our Haileybury community. Middle School students across all campuses at will be able to engage at the same time, which would not necessarily be possible if we were face-to-face!

Click here to view our exciting timetable of activities. There will be something for everyone from card games, cooking classes, arts and crafts and going back to basics all via Zoom.

Languages Week Online will also offer Languages-themed HYV (Haileybury High Five) activities, where students will be challenged to either share a language other than English that they speak at home, or take the time to learn some basic phrases in a new language.

Staff are encouraged to get involved too! By having staff give this a try, students will have some fantastic examples by which to give it a go themselves.

Students can attempt the “Sharing your Language” challenge here, and the “Learn a New Language” challenge here.

Thank you to all the staff who have volunteered their time and expertise to make this week happen – we’re certain that the students will greatly enjoy all activities on offer.

See you online soon!
