What year levels make up Secondary School at Haileybury Brighton?

At Haileybury, Secondary School incorporates Middle School (Years 7-8); Pre-Senior (Year 9) and Senior School (Years 10 – 12).

We separate out our various schools (Middle School, Pre-Senior, Senior School) due to the age, stage and different learning needs of each group which deliver a myriad of benefits.

Our renowned Parallel Education Program commences from Middle School.

What does Parallel Education mean, and in which years does it apply?

Students can enjoy the best of both worlds at Haileybury Brighton, with our acclaimed Parallel Education learning model. The model applies from Middle School through to Senior School.

We understand that boys and girls learn differently and have different educational needs, so separating boys and girls into their respective gender classes from Middle School and above provides a more comfortable and less distracting environment for our students. It also promotes a better work ethic and more confidence in taking risks with their learning.

While our students learn separately, they have ample opportunity to be involved in all other aspects of school life together, including recess and lunch, assemblies, house events, social justice, drama, music and band events.

When students continue into Senior School, some specialist VCE subject classes may incorporate co-educational learning opportunities due to class size and campus location.
