Haileybury is committed to providing outstanding quality education to students. Haileybury offers a limited number of scholarships at its four Melbourne campuses, Berwick, Brighton, City and Keysborough.

Haileybury offers the following scholarships:


Haileybury Academic Scholarships

Haileybury Academic Scholarships are awarded to students who exhibit outstanding academic performance.

Students who are currently in Years 3, 5 and 8 in 2024 are invited to participate in testing for entry to Years 5, 7 and 10 in 2026.

Testing areas includes literacy, numeracy and comprehension. Academic Scholarship testing is administered by Edutest.

Initial testing is online in a student’s home supervised remotely by qualified Edutest staff. If a student is invited to secondary testing, the student will be required to attend campus in person.

Applications open: Monday, 3 June 2024

Important information to consider regarding your Academic Scholarship application

  • Testing for entry into all campuses will be conducted online in students' homes, supervised by experienced Edutest supervisors. Students will complete four online multiple-choice tests and a handwritten expression test. 
  • Testing day and times for each year level will be advised closer to the test date. Start times for testing are staggered. Students will need to be available all day. Students must attend testing on the day they are allocated to. No alternate test dates or times are offered if you are unable to test at the time allocated.  
  • Alternate testing dates and/or locations are not available if you are unable to attend testing on the planned date.
  • Students can apply for entry into one campus only.
  • Haileybury only offers partial Academic scholarships.
  • The normal conditions of entry as set out in the Business Notice shall apply at all times.
  • Scholarships are awarded from the year of entry until Year 12. Scholarship continuation is assessed on an annual basis against the scholarship acceptance terms and conditions.
  • Testing for Year 5 is open to external students only. Testing for Year 7 and Year 10 is open to external and current Haileybury students. 
  • Haileybury does not disclose test results to families. Test results remain the property of Haileybury. 
  • There is no sharing or transferring of results to or from other schools. 
  • Participating families must act in accordance with Haileybury’s Code of Conduct. Instances, where behaviour is below that of the expected level, will result in immediate cancellation of test registration and exclusion from Haileybury’s scholarship process in future years. 
  • Practice exams can be purchased from Edutest when registering online. 
  • Final testing details including logins, test session date and time and detailed user guides will be emailed to families by Edutest in the week prior to testing. 
  • No late applications will be accepted.
  • The application fee is non-refundable.

Students who are shortlisted to progress to the second stage of the scholarship process are required to attend mandatory second round testing at the campus that they applied. No alternate test dates or times are available if the student cannot attend on the date advised – dates for second round testing will be confirmed on our website in 2024. Students who are successful in progressing to the third stage will be required to attend an interview with the Head of Campus at the campus the student has applied. All students who do not progress to the second stage of the process will be advised via email in August 2024. Do not call Haileybury Admissions for test results before this date as outcomes will not be finalised.


Haileybury Excellence Scholarships


Haileybury offers a limited number of scholarships to students who might not otherwise be able to access a Haileybury education.

Haileybury Excellence scholarships are awarded in the following categories: General Excellence, Music (refer to instruments and grades below) and Indigenous.

In each category, applicants need to demonstrate their commitment to academic excellence and achievement across leadership (both within and external to school), community service, music, sport, and the arts.

Haileybury Excellence Scholarships are open for students in Years 4, 6, and 9 in 2024 for entry into Years 5, 7, and 10 in 2025 at our Berwick, Brighton, City, and Keysborough campuses.

  • Students are invited to showcase their skills, experiences and interests in their study, leadership, community involvement, sport and culture.  
  • Shortlisted students will be invited to attend an interview to discuss their application
  • Please provide only the information requested for your application. Students who are invited to interview are welcome to present further documentation of their achievements. 
  • Applications for Year 5 entry is open to external students only. Current Year 4 students of Haileybury cannot apply.
  • Music Scholarships are open for students who exhibit advanced skills in Brass, Strings, or Woodwind instruments only and cover the music tuition fee for this instrument. Scholarships are for entry into Years 7 and 10 in 2025. Students applying for Year 7 entry must have completed a minimum of AMEB Grade 4 / 5 (or equivalent). Students applying for Year 10 must have completed a minimum of AMEB Grade 6 / 7 (or equivalent). Shortlisted students will be invited to attend an audition at Haileybury’s Keysborough campus and to present a piece on the instrument (as per your application). 
  • Indigenous Scholarships are open to talented students of Australian Indigenous descent. When applying, you will be required to provide confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage.  
  • Applications will be considered by Haileybury's Scholarships Committee
  • Feedback on individual submissions will not be provided
  • Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted
  • Unsuccessful applicants will be notified via email

Haileybury Foundation Scholarships

Since its inception, Haileybury Foundation has nurtured a number of deserving young scholarship beneficiaries who have gone on to study, build their future, and contribute to the community.

Haileybury Foundation scholarships are means assessed and are open to students in Years 7, 8, 9, or 10 who would not normally be able to afford a Haileybury education. Please visit the Haileybury Foundation Scholarships page for more information and to apply.    

Previously Haileybury and Haileybury Foundation have offered two types of means-tested scholarships – Haileybury Foundation and Socio-Economic scholarships. From 2023 all means-tested scholarships are offered through the Haileybury Foundation.

  • Haileybury Foundation scholarships are means-tested and at the time of applying a family must provide copies of two most recent ATO tax statements
  • Students are invited to showcase their skills, experiences and interests in their study, leadership, community involvement, sport, and culture
  • Shortlisted students will be invited to attend an interview to discuss their application with the Haileybury Foundation and the Head of Campus (or delegate). A further interview may be requested by the donor of the scholarship. 
  • Please provide only the information requested for your application. Students invited for an interview are welcome to present further documentation of their achievements. 
  • Applications will be considered by the Haileybury Foundation and Haileybury's Scholarships Committee
  • Feedback on individual submissions will not be provided
  • Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted
  • Unsuccessful applicants will be notified via email
