Remarkable Year 10 Leadership Day in Darwin
Haileybury Rendall School recently hosted its inaugural Year 10 Student Leadership Day, a landmark event designed to inspire and empower the next generation of student leaders.
Held at the outstanding Danala City Campus of Charles Darwin University, the day brought together 90 Year 10 students for an engaging and thought-provoking leadership experience. Set in the University’s convention centre, the event provided a professional environment that encouraged students to think deeply about leadership and their own capacity to make a positive difference in the School and wider community.
The day was officially opened by Principal, Andrew McGregor, who challenged students to embrace leadership as an opportunity to serve others, demonstrate integrity, lead by example and think ‘above the line.’
Deputy Principal Dennis Nowak and Director of Coaching Susannah Ritchie expertly organised and emceed the event, ensuring a dynamic and highly interactive program throughout the day. Their focus was broad and not just on their respective loves of Humanities and English.
One of the standout sessions was a panel discussion featuring six prominent local community leaders from a range of professional backgrounds. Students asked insightful and mature questions about leadership, resilience, decision-making and overcoming challenges.
Throughout the day, students also participated in professional workshops and collaborative team activities exploring the meaning of effective leadership. Their enthusiasm, contribution and willingness to engage were outstanding and reflected the quality of this remarkable cohort.
The success of this inaugural Leadership Day marks the beginning of what will become a signature experience for Haileybury Rendall School students. We look forward to providing many more opportunities for our Year 10 students to develop the skills, confidence and character needed to become exceptional leaders of the future.
