International Women's Day - Keysborough
Senior School has marked the occasion of International Women’s Day this year with several special events.
On Thursday, 5 March our Keysborough Campus was filled with joy, reflection and purpose as we welcomed our Years 9–12 students and the special women in their lives to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026.
Together, we embraced the power of connection, progress and possibility, honouring the incredible contributions of women in our community and beyond. But it wasn’t just about celebration. It was also about emphasising a mindset of reciprocity and support through abundant giving.
As we look to the future, let’s commit to breaking barriers, amplifying voices and driving real change, because equality is not just an idea; it is something we must actively create. The time for action is now.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in making this event a heartfelt celebration of strength, resilience and momentum.
On Tuesday 10 March, our whole school assembly was held in Aikman Hall. Our guest speakers, Qerime Almovski (OH 2007) and Francesca Brand (OH 2020) spoke about their experiences. Our Haileybury Girls College Captains also addressed the audience with enthusiastic articulations on the challenges that face the girls as young women growing up in a society still striving for equality.

Celebrating International Women’s Day 2026 – ‘Give to Gain’
On Friday 6 March, the Brighton Senior School and Castlefield Middle School community came together in a vibrant celebration of International Women’s Day. The morning began with a welcoming breakfast, setting the scene for uplifting musical performances and inspiring speeches from students of Haileybury Girls College.
Centred around the 2026 campaign theme, Give to Gain, this year’s event encouraged every member of our community to reflect on the power of giving; whether it be time, support, or opportunities and the collective growth that comes from it. Over 300 attendees, including parents, siblings, staff, and members of Haileybury College, joined the girls and women of our community in recognising the importance of this occasion.
Student speakers Cooper (Year 12 School Vice-Captain), Summer (Year 8 GMS Captain), Suhani (Year 8) and Jada (Year 12) shared thoughtful reflections aligned with this year’s theme, Give to Gain, highlighting how acts of giving help build a gender equal world.
The morning also featured outstanding musical performances by Bella (Year 6) and Juliet (Year 11) who wrapped up the morning wonderfully.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to this memorable event. By embracing the theme of Give to Gain, we continue to build a more inclusive, supportive and empowering environment for all.

International Women's Day - Berwick
In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Year 12 student leaders at Berwick organised a morning tea for Edrington students and the female staff to recognise and celebrate the contributions of women in our community. Later in the day at lunch, the Year 12 student leaders from both Sholto and Edrington spoke eloquently, highlighting the importance of equality for women and reflecting on the ongoing journey towards greater opportunity and respect. Their words were thoughtful and inspiring and were very well received by the students in attendance. The lunch session concluded with a moment of reflection, when students wrote a short letter of gratitude to an important woman in their lives, acknowledging the influence, support and inspiration they provide each day.
Pre-Senior update Term 1
Pre-Senior students have continued their strong start to the 2026 academic year, building on the foundations established in Term 1A as they transition from Middle School into Senior School. This term has seen a deliberate focus on strengthening students’ sense of belonging, while beginning to develop the skills of independence, generosity and service that will support them throughout their senior years. Underpinning this work is an ongoing commitment to mastery, both in academia, co-curricular, and extracurricular experiences that define the Pre-Senior program.
A standout moment this term was the Pre-Senior student meet-and-greet held at Keysborough, where students from across campuses came together to connect with peers they may not have met before. Through a carefully structured format, students practised introducing themselves, making eye contact, shaking hands and asking thoughtful questions, mastering essential life skills that build confidence and social awareness. From light-hearted conversation starters to more reflective prompts, the event created a friendly and supportive environment in which students expanded their Haileybury network, formed new friendships and strengthened their sense of connection to the broader Haileybury community. Congratulations to the students elected as Student Representative Council members. We look forward to their continued work in building an impactful student experience.
Dickinson House – Clean Up Australia Day
Haileybury Senior School (Dickinson House) students took part in Clean Up Australia Day, helping to clear rubbish from the beaches around Sandringham.
It was an eye-opening experience for our students to see how much waste ends up along the coastline, and a great reminder of how important it is to look after our local environment.
By working together to help make the beaches cleaner and safer, our students gained an awareness about how everyday choices can impact the community. The opportunity to clean up the beaches was a great way to give back, build teamwork, and most importantly, enjoy quality time with friends to make a positive difference in the community.
Early Bird Reading program takes flight at Newlands and Senior School
This term, Newlands and Senior School Keysborough launched the Early Bird Reading program. This initiative pairs Prep–Year 2 students with Year 12s for extra reading practice every Wednesday morning before school.
Thank you to Ms Dooley for her support and to all students involved. If you would like to see the program in action or take photos, feel free to drop by any Wednesday morning.
Term 2 commencement
In Term 2, students wear winter uniform; however, we will have two weeks at the beginning of the term when students may continue to wear summer uniform if they choose. Term 2 classes resume on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.
