You will soon have access to update your Haileybury device to Windows 11. This update will introduce new features for improved productivity and user experience, while also enhancing the overall security of Haileybury.

This transition allows us to make the most of the new Windows environment while ensuring an efficient and secure space to study and work. Embracing these advancements keeps Haileybury at the forefront of functionality and modern computing. The Windows 11 upgrade will become available on Monday, 25 March.
Haileybury managed Windows devices are eligible and have been scheduled to be upgraded to Windows 11. To make it simple, we will be changing your device background once it's ready to update.
Please note that this does not include the following:
Your Haileybury device will be available for upgrade from Monday, 25 March, and all staff and students will have one month to manually upgrade at a time of their choosing.
If you have not upgraded your device throughout this time, we will automatically upgrade you to Windows 11 from Monday, 14 June.
If you cannot see your Windows 11 upgrade desktop background, please restart your computer while on campus at Haileybury.
If you are a Haileybury Pangea staff member, the works we have completed in the background will ensure you are prepared for the upgrade. If you do have an issue seeing the Windows 11 desktop background, please contact Service Central.
Please note: It is highly recommended to perform this step while on site due to the size of the update files.
Click Start Menu > type 'Settings' > open the 'Settings' app > select 'Update and Security' > click 'Check for updates'.
The update files will now be downloaded and once complete, you will need to restart your computer to finalise the process.
The update can take up to two hours, broken into two stages.
First stage - Downloading the update. This may take up to one hour. During this time, you will still be able to use your device.
Second stage - Restart your computer. This will finalise the update process and may take up to one hour to complete. During this time, you will not be able to use your device. Please ensure that your laptop charger is connected during this process and the laptop lid remains open.
You can update your device at home, however we recommend that you download the updates while at school. You may then restart your laptop at a more convenient time and place to complete the update process. Please ensure that your laptop charger is connected during this process and the laptop lid remains open.
While this update will not erase your data, we recommend backing up your work and ensure any unfinished work is saved prior to updating.

While many settings will remain unchanged, some settings may not be compatible with Windows 11 and will revert to default. You will need to reconfigure these settings as necessary.
The Windows 11 start menu and taskbar will have a slightly different design than Windows 10.

No. Windows 11 will be the standard Windows operating system used at Haileybury. All Haileybury managed computers will need to be updated to Windows 11.
The privacy of your data will not be affected by this upgrade.
Software Centre has been replaced by Company Portal. Company Portal can be found via the Start menu.
It is expected that your default programs will remain the same following the upgrade.
