CEO | Principal's Report

I have enjoyed my Saturdays, watching our students play their summer sport, supported by their teachers and families. Summer Sport at Haileybury commenced back in Term 4 2025, with Girls First teams and Boys teams including Firsts, Seconds, 10As and 9As starting their seasons. Competition across both the APS and AGSV is hotly contested, whilst also being played in the true spirit of these long-serving competitions. There definitely is an edge to the on-field rivalries at First level, as for the first time in the history of Summer Sport across both competitions, there will be finals conducted in order to award the premiership. For the Boys, it will be a ‘Winner Takes All’ Grand Final, between the top two teams at the end of the home and away season. And for the Girls, everyone seemed buoyed by the opportunity to potentially take part in a finals campaign, with the top four teams to battle it out in semi-final fixtures across all sports.

For the broader student group, competition began in earnest from Term 1, with students taking to the field, court, pool, track, floor or pitch, representing the Hearts and Bloods through representation in excess of 220 teams and squads, across 17 different sports and activities. For both Girls and Boys, coming into the penultimate round of the season, we have 33 teams that still have a clean sheet, undefeated after six rounds. We wish all teams a strong finish to the season, with finals representation expected across almost all sports. I thank the students for their representation of Haileybury and to our staff for providing such wonderful experiences.

The School is alive with creative energy as students prepare to share their artistic talents with our community. Watching our students perform is more than just an evening of entertainment; it’s a celebration of their hard work, growing confidence and collaborative spirit.

I extend a warm invitation to our signature music event of the term; The Twilight Concert is a relaxed, outdoor ‘pops’ style evening featuring a wide variety of musical acts. We look forward to seeing you in the Senior School Quadrangle this Thursday, 19 March from 5.00 pm.

Beyond the concert, our performers are busy rehearsing for two highly anticipated stage shows:

  • Senior School Musical: West Side Story
Prepare to be moved by this timeless tale of rivalry and star-crossed lovers. Our Senior School students are tackling this iconic score and demanding choreography with incredible passion. It promises to be a professional-grade spectacle you won’t want to miss. Aikman Hall 29 April to 3 May.
  • The Autumn Play
For those who love a deep dive into character and storytelling, the Autumn Play, The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet offers a more intimate theatrical experience. Our cast has been working tirelessly to bring this script to life with nuance and heart. Aikman Hall Reverse Stage 18–19 March.

Being part of a live audience provides a vital learning opportunity. Your presence helps our students build resilience, master teamwork, and feel the reward of their dedication. These events are also a wonderful way for our families to connect and celebrate our collective school spirit.

I look forward to our Middle School productions, later in the year.

Ticketing information is available to you in the Arts section of this edition of Insight.
