CEO | Principal's Report

Haileybury students, and the School, have received considerable recognition in recent weeks for the individual and collective efforts of families, students and Haileybury’s brilliant teachers.

Firstly, a quite remarkable 16 Haileybury students were presented with Premier’s Awards for their results in the 2024 VCE examinations. The awards are presented to the top few students in each subject with the actual number of awards tied to the number of students doing each subject.

Haileybury students received awards in eight subjects. Haileybury’s English Department continues to lead the state with outstanding teachers working in close collaboration to deliver brilliant results for students. There were six Premier’s Awards in English.

Haileybury - number one ranked co-education school in Australia

Secondly, the Murdoch press around Australia (which includes The Herald Sun and The Australian) conducted an analysis of school performance amongst all private schools in the country. It included an analysis of NAPLAN performance, ATAR scores and the full breadth of co-curricular programs.

Haileybury was ranked the number one co-education school in Australia, the number one school in Victoria and the number two school in the country behind only Sydney Grammar.

The result is a strong reflection of the breadth of programs that Haileybury offers in both the curriculum area and, importantly, in the co-curriculum space. The breadth of opportunities available for Haileybury students was a key part of the award.

Of course, the base for this recognition was the extraordinary academic performance of Haileybury students right throughout their schooling. Haileybury students are consistently amongst the very top performing academically by NAPLAN and by ATAR.

Primary School of the Year – non-government

Thirdly Haileybury was once again awarded Primary School of the Year – non-government, at the Australian Education Awards last week. Haileybury has been a regular winner of this award because of the strength of the evidence-based practice, explicit teaching program which supports Haileybury students to build the strongest foundation possible in literacy and numeracy.

I thank all the Haileybury community of teachers, students, parents and caregivers for your contribution to these remarkable results.
