CEO | Principal's Report

We have been delighted to receive the initial data from the Independent Schools Victoria (ISV) survey completed by Haileybury students (Years 5–12), parents and staff. The results are outstanding and our detailed analysis to be completed over the next two weeks will inform our school improvement plan.

Importantly, all survey data means were well above the ISV benchmarks. Haileybury Parent mean of 8.43/10 (ISV longitudinal benchmark 8.11) represents a strong validation of the work the School is doing with families. I am particularly appreciative that more than 1,400 families took the time to complete the survey giving the data high statistical validity.

The student survey mean for all questions is 7.98/10; a full .58 above the ISV benchmark. This is an outstanding result for a student survey. Importantly, student responses to questions around safety and inclusiveness were very high and well above ISV benchmarks. Results included 8.40/10 for ‘my school is a safe place to learn,’ 8.40/10 for ‘I am proud to be a part of this school,’ 8.50/10 for ‘I am taught to respect individual differences’ and 8.31/10 for ‘students from different backgrounds and cultures are treated fairly.’ This fits well with our Magenta Principle that ‘Every student matters every day.’ 2,139 students completed the survey, again giving very high statistical validity.

At the core of a great Haileybury education are of course a committed and dedicated staff. With teacher shortages around the country, Haileybury has been committed to attracting and retaining exceptional staff to deliver strong education outcomes for each student. The second of our Magenta Principles is ‘Every staff member matters every day.’ Over 600 Haileybury staff completed the survey and I am delighted that the staff overall mean of 8.84/10 highlights the staff Magenta Principle in action and is .65 above the ISV longitudinal benchmark. Importantly, staff gave an extraordinary result of 9.09/10 for goal alignment. Education leaders at Haileybury and the entire staff are aligned on what outstanding education practice represents and how to deliver for students and families.

Once again, I thank everyone for taking the time to complete the surveys which provide us with very important feedback and direction for our continued school improvement.
