School Sport Victoria representation
One of the proudest achievements a student can receive is being bestowed the honour of selection in the School Sport Victoria representative team for their chosen sport. So far this year, 17 Haileybury students across nine different sports have been selected to ‘pull on the Big V’ and take part in carnivals across the country. This places Haileybury as the most represented school from across the APS/AGSV school cohort. We wish our students all the very best of luck as they test themselves with and against the best players in the country.

Sports Technology as a key enabler of our approach to sport
Technology is increasingly shaping the way sport is played, coached and analysed at every level, and it is becoming an important part of the learning experience for our students.
At Haileybury, selected First teams utilise leading sports technology platforms including Catapult GPS units, Hudl video analysis, VALD performance testing equipment and advanced statistical tracking tools. These technologies provide valuable insights into performance, helping students better understand their training loads, physical condition, decision-making and overall development as athletes.

Importantly, the data is not just about performance on game day. It supports smarter training practices, assists with injury prevention and load management, and helps students develop a deeper understanding of what it takes to perform consistently at their best.
For coaches, access to high-quality data helps inform planning, identify trends and create training environments that maximise both individual and team development.
The benefits extend beyond our athletes. Sports Technology is also offered as a student pathway within our sports program, providing participants with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in performance analysis, data interpretation and emerging technologies in sport. Students contribute to a range of initiatives that support both their own future aspirations and the continued development of our sporting programs.
As technology continues to evolve, so too will our approach. We remain committed to exploring innovations that enhance the student experience and support the ongoing development of our sporting programs.
While technology will never replace great coaching, strong relationships and a love of the game, it can provide powerful insights that help our students learn, improve and perform at their best.
Concussion in Sport
As we move through a busy winter sport season, it is a timely reminder that while bumps and bruises are often part of sport, head injuries require particular care and attention.
Concussions are relatively common in children and adolescents. While many students recover well, symptoms are not always immediately obvious, making it important that any suspected or confirmed concussion is taken seriously and managed appropriately.
At Haileybury, the health and wellbeing of our students always come first. If your child sustains a confirmed concussion, returning to learning and school is the priority before returning to sport. While students are often eager to get back on the field with their teammates, a cautious approach gives the brain the time it needs to recover fully and helps reduce the risk of further injury.
In line with our concussion management procedures, Haileybury applies a minimum 21-day symptom-free return-to-play process, regardless of whether a healthcare practitioner provides clearance for an earlier return to contact training or competition.
Before a student can resume sport training, Haileybury must receive written clearance from a healthcare practitioner confirming that it is safe to do so. This clearance should be provided via a medical certificate to your campus Concussion Officer.
We also ask families to notify the School of any concussion that occurs outside school activities. Early communication helps us provide the best possible support and ensures your child is managed safely both in the classroom and on the sporting field.
Thank you for your support in helping us prioritise the health, wellbeing and long-term recovery of our students.
