Campus News

As we commence our holiday period, it is a great time to rest and rejuvenate ready for a busy, fun-filled and productive Term 4 ahead. Our Years 7 and 8 students commence preparations for their exams which take place in Weeks 5 and 6. There are several major events, graduations, concerts and our Middle School Celebration of Excellence all lined up for Term 4. The date for the Castlefield Celebration of Excellence is Thursday, 4 December, at Aikman Hall, Keysborough. This is a significant celebration of the school year, and all Middle School students are expected to attend.

Uniform

When we return in Term 4, students resume wearing their summer uniform. There is a two-week grace period to allow for variations in the weather and organisation of uniforms. All students should be in their summer uniform for the week commencing Monday, 20 October.

Please note that Middle School students will be required to wear their full School (winter) uniform for Speech Night, so please keep this accessible until the end of the year.

Our Second-hand uniform shop, run by the HPFC, is a fabulous source for uniforms, so drop into their space near the Rouen Street gate Wednesdays between 8.15 am – 10.15 am, and Thursdays between 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm.

Early Learning Centre

Child Safe Culture

We all enjoy capturing special moments of children engaged in the curriculum. Photographs are a meaningful part of our program as they showcase the children’s joy, highlight their interests and allow us to share their learning with families. They also play an important role in documenting and assessing children’s learning.

To further strengthen our Child Safe Culture, Haileybury ELC is adopting the National Model Code for Early Childhood Education and Care. This code outlines child safe practices and strict guidelines for the use of electronic devices when taking images or videos of children while they are in our care.

We encourage all families to familiarise themselves with this code of conduct and support us in ensuring photo taking of ELC children engaged in the ELC program is only occurring on a Haileybury device. This helps us protect children’s rights and privacy, while continuing to celebrate their learning journey.

Responsible Pet Program

Our Pre-Prep children have been developing important skills in caring for themselves, others and animals. Recently, we welcomed Mrs Brown the rabbit and her six babies into the classroom. The children embraced the responsibility of caring for the bunnies, showing kindness and empathy as they nurtured them daily.

We were also joined by Locky the Labrador, who helped the children learn how to safely interact with dogs. Each child practised the ‘meet and greet’ rules before enjoying a gentle pat with the pet educator’s dog.

A truly positive and interactive experience for all.

Junior School

Book Week

The library staff, led my Mrs Lizzy McBride, always put on a fabulous Book Week across the School. There were visiting authors, mystery readers, writing competitions, daily activities and of course the annual parade to be part of.

Camp

Year 3 recently attended their very first camp at Forest Edge. It is exciting from the very start, arriving at school with your bags, the bus ride, the small town stop for morning tea, settling into cabins, discovering the activity timetable, showing up for duty groups, competing in the trivia night, overcoming your fear on the flying fox, making new friends, and finding out you have a talent for archery —just to name a few. This year level was a pleasure to take away, with staff commenting on their kindness, attitude, engagement, manners and thankfulness.

Thanks Dad!

The Junior School hosted its annual event to celebrate the dads and father figures in our lives. Spread across two campus venues, the oval and Dickinson Hall, families could compete for the trophy in a trivia takedown or spend time playing games on the oval. Special thanks to the Haileybury Parents & Friends Castlefield (HPFC) and teachers who came early to cook bacon and egg rolls for the event.

Father’s Day celebration

Our Father’s Day celebration was a huge success, bringing together dads, families and friends for a morning filled with joy and connection. The event had egg and bacon rolls and freshly brewed coffee, whilst the classic songs playlist set the atmosphere for the morning. Children and parents joined in activities that encouraged laughter, fun and shared moments, making the day truly special. More than just a celebration of dads, the morning highlighted the importance of community and the power of connection. Events like these remind us that our school is more than just a place of learning — it is a place of belonging. Coming together in this way strengthens relationships, builds lasting memories, and reinforces the supportive network that surrounds our students and their families. It was a wonderful celebration of fathers, family and the strong community spirit that defines our school.

Term 3 into Term 4

Term 3 has been a fantastic chapter in our school year; filled with rich learning experiences, exciting sporting events, the energy of the musical, and a wide range of co-curricular opportunities. Students embraced both academic and creative pursuits, while boys and girls enjoyed joint activities that strengthened friendships and school spirit. The term highlighted the value of teamwork, growth and participation across all areas of school life. As we look ahead to Term 4, we welcome the chance to finish the year strong — relishing new challenges, developing our skills further and continuing to strive for personal and collective success.
