Edrington

Campus News

This term at Edrington has been filled with progress, achievement and celebration. Our students have made excellent progress in their learning, achieved exceptional NAPLAN results, enjoyed exciting excursions and shone on stage in three sellout performances of Alice in Wonderland. I would like to thank our staff for their remarkable efforts and commitment throughout the term, and our parents for their ongoing support. I wish everyone a happy and safe term break, and I look forward to welcoming you back when school resumes on Monday, 6 October.

Early Learning Centre

The ELC children warmly welcomed their fathers and father figures into the classroom to participate in a variety of engaging and interactive experiences. The morning was filled with excitement as children and their special guests enjoyed activities such as paper plane making, photo booth, origami, painting, frame decorating and guessing games. Events like these create meaningful opportunities for connection and contribute to lasting, positive memories for both the children and their fathers or special people. These shared experiences also help to strengthen the important relationships between children, families and the early learning community.

Junior School

Book Week

Book an Adventure was a fitting theme for Book Week, as our students eagerly explored a range of activities to celebrate books and a love of reading. Throughout the week, there were opportunities to participate in activities such as listening to stories in the library, creating book related crafts, joining in an adventure hunt and entering a mapping competition. Students were also treated to author visits from Idan Ben-Barak and Andrea Rowe. As is tradition in the Junior School, the celebrations culminated with a dress-up for our annual Book Week parade.

Cyber Safety incursion

To complement Child Safety lessons relating to online safety, Edrington Junior School students recently attended a Cyber Safety incursion to heighten their awareness and understanding of this important topic. Our Prep to Year 2 students participated in a session titled S.T.O.P. for Your Safety, which explored how to be safe online, with help-seeking being a focus. The session for our Years 3 and 4 classes, called Privacy Protectors: Securing Personal Information, presented students with safe ways to connect, learn and play online. With the aim of educating and empowering our school community, staff and parent sessions were also provided alongside these student incursions.

Middle School

Middle School has been full of exciting and engaging events this term. Our Year 5 students embarked on a memorable excursion to Sovereign Hill, where they experienced life in the gold rush era. Year 7 students explored the Hellenic Museum, participating in hands-on experiences and ancient games that brought history to life. Aerobics and dance teams qualified for Nationals and competed in competitions in Tasmania and Queensland, representing Haileybury beautifully. Selected Year 8 students attended Haileybury’s Model UN where our delegates participated in lively debates, and developed skills in diplomacy, critical thinking and collaboration. GMS students attended an incursion run by the Butterfly Foundation, which provided practical tools and sparked meaningful discussions about self-esteem, mental health and positive body image.

Community celebrations were highlights as well. The Father’s Day breakfast was a wonderful opportunity for our students to celebrate their fathers and significant males in their lives. Fun events, including PJ Day and Footy Day, brought our students together and increased our sense of community.

Over the holiday break, we have students attending cultural trips to China, France and Japan. These experiences will allow them to immerse themselves in local history, language, art and cuisine, creating unforgettable memories and broadening their global perspectives. We wish all our students safe travels and a wonderful learning adventure.

Haileybury Parents & Friends Edrington (HPFE)

Hello Edrington. Once again, our amazing community came together to hold our annual Father’s Day stall. We hope all the dads and carers had an amazing Father’s Day and loved the gifts the children very carefully chose for you all. They are very serious about their gift choosing responsibilities. Thank you to all our amazing volunteers who helped set up and run the stall; we make a great team.

We very busy behind the scenes organizing Trivia Night 2025. Watch this space. There will be trivia, games, laughs and great company. Even some old scores to settle — we can’t wait!

Every Wednesday you will find Jenelle and Amphil at the SHUS from 8.30 am to 11.00 am. The SHUS is always looking for an extra hand, so if you have an hour to spare on a Wednesday to give Amphil and Jenelle a hand in the shop please contact them at shus-berwick@haileybury.vic.edu.au.
