A Christmas Carol in [July] August

The Senior School play, the classic Dickens tale A Christmas Carol, performed over three nights to enthusiastic audiences. Boys Drama Captain Daniel Trewin (Year 12) drove the plot with his rich characterisation of the bitter miser Ebenezer Scrooge.

The Play's Director, Nicole Smith, and the cast impressed everyone with their creative sets, hilarious costumes and incredible acting.

Stewart Bell, Director of Performing and Visual Arts said "Daniel literally transformed in front of our eyes during the production’s opening.

The cast created some wonderfully exaggerated characters, with a variety of English accents on show. Though there were many funny moments, it was the cast’s ability to delve into the scenes full of pathos that really impressed.

Who can forget  Matthew Lauder (Year 12) and his grim spectre as Tiny Tim—another particularly memorable character who didn’t say much but probably gave some of the audience nightmares."

A feature of this production was the use of Haileybury's increasingly versatile and sophisticated lighting fixtures that offer an enormous range of options in a relatively short programming time.
