Haileybury Wins 2020 Australian Education Awards

Haileybury has been named Primary School of the Year—Non-Government at the 2020 Australian Education Awards!

Haileybury has once again been recognised as one of the country's best schools with multiple wins at the 2020 Australian Education Awards!

These awards celebrate schools and educators from around the country, acknowledging exceptional teaching and programs.

Winners and award recipients were announced via a live virtual event on Thursday, 26 November 2020, with Haileybury receiving two wins and four excellence awards.


Haileybury won the award for Primary School of the Year–Non-Government. The School previously won this category in 2018.

This award is further recognition of Haileybury's consistent high standards, extensive extra curricula programs, outstanding student data and exceptional balanced approach to the whole child, as noted by the judges.


Haileybury's Deputy Principal (Junior School), Mr Grenville Green, has been named Primary School Principal of the Year–Non-Government.

The judges commented that Mr Green demonstrates "outstanding application from a leader with a strong focus on pedagogy, instructional leadership and data-driven decision-making."

"Working not just within his school, but across multiple campuses and other states/systems."

Grenville works close with Haileybury’s extraordinary Heads of Junior School and this award is a great recognition of their exceptional work.


Haileybury’s entrepreneurial vision and innovative programs were also recognised with four excellence awards.

Head of Middle School Teaching & Learning, Ms Melissa Allen, received an excellence award in the Education Rising Star of the Year category among an impressive field of nominees.

The School was also recognised for excellence in the following categories:

*          Best Use of Technology

*          Best Student Wellbeing Program

*          Best Professional Learning Program

These awards are a testament to the extraordinary work, ingenuity and commitment of Haileybury’s staff in what has been a landmark year in education.
